HONOURING THE DARKER NIGHTS: A COMMUNITY KIRTAN & CELEBRATION.

Kelly Jarvis

Come together and join us for another of our uplifting Kirtan events at Luna Wave. The Autumn Equinox falls on September 22nd and marks one of two moments every year when the day and night are the same length. This time of year symbolises the shift of energies away from the buzz and thrill of summer, towards a quieter, more internally focused one as we move towards the darkness. Kirtan is a traditional practice where community comes together using their voice as one to chant mantra (a phrase sung in Sanskrit). We have likely all experienced the powerful feeling of chanting OM as one group; in Kirtan we galvanise the power of our voices as a way to elevate mood and celebrate coming together. Far from being stuffy and hymn like - Kirtan is joyful, mood boosting and soul centred and can actually be a real party once you give yourself to it.

The perfect way to celebrate this time of year and our wonderful community, whilst staying true to the sacred roots of Yoga. We will be joined by Kelly Jarvis and friends who will lead us through Kirtan with accompanying musical instruments and voices from Mike, Laura, Tom & Jas.

This event is not for profit with all proceeds going towards Justlife, a Brighton & Manchester based charity who are dedicated to supporting people with varying needs throughout their journey into and out of temporary accommodation. This involves addressing mental and physical health needs, and overcoming the barriers they face to finding housing. Once longer-term housing is secured, we aim to prevent people from returning to homelessness by involving them in our befriending scheme and creative group. Suggested donation of £5
